GRID
A pattern of lines on a chart or map, such as those representing latitude and longitude, which helps determine absolute location.
Network of uniformly spaced parallel lines intersecting at right angles. When superimposed on a map, it usually carries the name of the projection used for the map- that is, Lambert grid, transverse Mercator grid, universal transverse Mercator grid.
A system of squares on a map formed by straight lines which represent progressive distances east and north of a fixed point of origin.
